If you’re new to fly fishing, then you might decide to get started with a fly fishing starter package. These will provide you with a large selection of different tools including the rod, the fly line, the leader and tippet, backing and more.
Normally, these starter kits will also include a few flies to get you started. The flies are of course what will attract fish to your hook and of course they don’t tend to stay looking great all that long (and they really do look great when you first get them).
That means that while these kits are great for getting started, it won’t be long until you’ll find yourself with a severe shortage of flies and unable to carry on fishing.
Which is where packages like this come in and allow you to quickly add over 100 to your collection!
This product contains over 100 flies which include a huge variety of different colors, styles and sizes. They’re ideal for trout fishing but also very well suited to fishing other species. In total there are 20 different flies, with at least 5 of each.
Adding further value to this package is the included box. This is a double side waterproof pocketable fly box, meaning you can easily carry it with you on your next fishing trip and enjoy fishing without any concern that you’re going to ruin your flies by getting them wet. The double sided box is also handy for quickly accessing a lot of different flies.
What makes this package different is not only the cost (which we’ll get to in the moment) but also the box. This box stands out by being 100% waterproof, capable of holding 100 flies and small enough to easily fit into a pocket. That’s an impressive combination of features that will really benefit you when you’re out fishing!
This package offers really very excellent value at only $35.99 currently on Amazon. You could easily pay a lot more than that for the flies alone and this way, you’re also getting the box!
While this is a great value package, there are always of course going to be some drawbacks. In this case, the biggest issue that some reviewers have is that the patterns aren’t highly realistic.
One reviewer said that they’re unlikely to work on ‘educated trout’, which is to say that areas that have been overfished might fare better with more realistic looking flies. But that said, most people seem to have little problem catching plenty of fish and they certainly work well as attractors.
In conclusion, this package offers a very affordable way to add a huge number of flies to your fly fishing set-up. There’s a great variety here and the waterproof, pocketable box is an excellent and practical bonus!
